Facundo de la Cruz was born in Río Tercero, Cordoba, Argentina, in 1986. He grew up in Río Tercero and then moved to Rawson, Chubut, where he attended the Polytechnical school. During college, he met his former life partner Paola Sanz and started to dance Argentine Tango. After having won several titles throughout Argentina in the categories Tango and Milonga, they moved to Buenos Aires in 2011 to participate in the atmosphere of the capital where tango has its greatest influence on the world.
The couple’s fourth participation in the World Championship of Argentine Tango (Campeonato Mundial de Baile de Tango) ultimately brought them the first place in Tango de Salón in August 2012. After having honed their dancing for ten years together Paola and Facundo started to teach and dance their tango worldwide. Invitations to the most prestigious tango festivals in over 20 countries followed this success, among them Tango Festival Internacional Granada, Istanbul Tango Ritual, Shanghai Tango Marathon and Łódź Tango Salón Festival. They were judges at the Preliminaries of the World Championship in San Martín de los Andes and twice in London. Furthermore they were invited to present their dancing at Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, at the folk dance and music festival in Martigues and the Sadler’s Wells Theater in London.
Today, Facundo de la Cruz gives classes and workshops mostly in the USA, Europe and Argentina. Additionally, he joined the dance company of Forever Tango in 2017, one of the most recognized shows of Argentine Tango, whose current and previous ensembles include dancers like Gavito and Marcela Durán, Geraldine Rojas and Ezequiel Paludi, Guillermina Quiroga, Alejandra Gutty, Diego Ortega and Aldana Silveyra, and Claudio Villagra.
